Hard Candy Lollipop Molds
Making candy would be very limited without the use of molds. They allow a good design to be reproduced almost endlessly and offer manufacturers a cost-control mechanism by using the same amount of ingredients predictably. Those principles work for the hobbyist, too. Even hard candy lollipop molds provide a standard baseline for judging quality. Since all molded candy will be alike in shape and size, it remains for the variations in color and texture that make a candy stand out.
While many candies are handmade without molds, the vast majority of commercial hard candy is made with molds, and probably most homemade candy is, too. This is particularly true when making hard candy at home in any quantity. The time savings and ease of production, including keeping things easy to clean up, make using molds an easy choice. So, what kinds of hard candy lollipop molds are available?
The answer is simple; there is a mold for every imaginable thing you might think of! Some only produce a single candy at a time while others gang up on a sheet that could have from two to twenty cavities. The most commonly used hard candy lollipop mold is the flat type, and it is the simplest to use, too. It’s the one we think of when we usually talk about hard candy lollipop molds; they are simply the simplest.
Hot, liquid candy is poured into each cavity until level with the top. Then, after the candy cools, it is easily popped out of the mold. Make sure the surface where hard candy falls from the mold is soft enough to prevent damage to the brand new candy. Hard candy lollipop molds are different from other flat molds only in that they have a place to insert a stick.
There are several outlets for hard candy molds on the Internet, and while some are for larger manufacturers and have appropriately larger minimum orders, there are others that will ship small quantities for homemade candy making hobbyists and entrepreneurs. And, flat hard candy molds are usually quite inexpensive. Expect to see prices from under a dollar to only a few dollars for larger sheets with multiple cavities. Expect, also, to see the most incredible variety in designs offered. From holiday and seasonal themes to sports and special occasion motifs, you will more than likely find many designs you want.

Some hard candy molds are made to put two halves together, and indeed, this can be done with most all hard candy made from flat molds. Just use a little hot syrup as glue to put the two flat sides together. Another way is when you have one cool candy and another just poured, put the hard candy over the recently poured one. If the level is right, it will make a great bond. This gives a wonderful 3-D look that you can take advantage of with 2-piece molds with sides that match up to form realistic objects.
Once you have finished with your hard candy lollipop molds, you will want to wrap the candy to keep it clean and make it look the best it can for presentation. There are many ways to finish the wrappers, too, such as using ribbon around the twist in lollipop wrappers. Click here for great ideas for this final polish to your precious candy!
