What is a custom candy mold? Simply put, it is one that created with a specific purpose in mind and can not be found at any candy molds and supplies store. If you need a particular shape and it is just not available the way you want it, you have a couple of options. You can place an order at specialty mold-making shops, or make them yourself.
I recommend making your own custom candy molds for a couple of reasons. While there are times it makes more sense to have the molds made for you, there is no substitute for the satisfaction you will get from this hands-on experience. If you enjoy making candy, you are a creative person who will take pride in creating candy that expresses your sense of design. Really, making candy is an art so why not take it a step further and create personalized candy molds to express your inner candy making visions?
Before I talk about how to create custom candy molds for yourself, let’s consider the shops where you could have your mold designs made for you. Some of these places, and you can find them on the Internet, of course, will have various requirements that virtually preclude the home candy making hobbyist market. Unless you are willing to order sometimes large minimum quantities of candy molds and supplies, or exceed a rather high dollar threshold, they just can not be bothered. That is okay; there are others who cater to home candy making folks, and there are plenty of us!
When you find a vendor who will honor small orders, you will have to communicate exactly what you want from them. The size of the candy must be described in specific ways and there are a number of options to consider. Then you wait hoping you will be happy with it.
Doing it yourself at home or in your own candy business makes you more involved in your hobby or entrepreneurial endeavor. When you know how to create custom candy molds, you will want to make more and more! If you start with simple flat molds and work your way up to the more complex 3D style molds, you will really set yourself apart from the candy making crowd.

The basic procedure will vary only slightly from the description here, but you must read and pay close attention to the instructions that will come with your molding material when you order it. The best molds are made with silicone two-part mold material, which can be found at most candy molds and supplies outlets. The two parts of the material are mixed together until the resulting pliable, rubbery stuff is a uniform color (the two parts are always different colors). It can then be shaped around a model that is what you want your candy to look like.
After you have created a few personalized candy molds and produced some unique and winning treats that have really made people take notice, it is time to dress them up with wrappers that are just as unique as the candy itself. Far and away the best method for this is to have candy wrapper software that is dedicated to the task.
